God Is Not Scared Of The Dark

Even the darkness is as light to you

I had a less than ideal moment with God one day and it scared me. I felt bad, I felt unworthy, and I felt like a fraud. That’s when God led me to Psalm 139- A classic. One that holds so many layers to the depths of our soul.

I’ve been going through a season. It’s been a rough one where I feel like I lost my identity. Deep down there was some layered frustration with God. How could this happen? Why did this happen? And why am I still in it. That’s when he kindly led me to Psalm 139. I love when God leads you where you need him the most. In Psalm 139, David talks about God knowing him like no other and how this deep knowingness is a wonder to David himself. But there is a part that gets me that really spoke to the character of God. He says “If I say, ‘Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night’, even the darkness is not dark to you”

Sometimes you’re in a hole; you’re a mess of things. This is normal and happens 2-3 times in our lifetime. You just want to hide or crawl up under the covers and let that be your residence. That is when the darkness is your covering. But God in his goodness is not scared of the dark. Our dark is not too messy for him or too dark for him. God meet us right there in the depths.

Something that fascinates me is the moon and the sun; light and day. At some point it has to be night and at some time the sun has to rise again, even in the winter. You cannot have one without the other. You cannot have light without darkness. Sometimes you need the darkness to become a better version of you. Sometimes you need the darkness to get rid of the things that linger deep within. Sometimes the darkness tests you. But it’s in knowing the depths of the darkness that we see light. But be encouraged that God is with you in the darkness and he won’t forsake because dark is as light to him.

And that, is the 211
